Wooden furniture in your apartment or villa suffers because of the high moisture content in the air. Polish them and try not to use water for cleaning. Use dry cloth for cleaning your wooden furniture. If leather couch and chairs requires special care.

If your big house has carpeting done, monsoons are time to keep them folded.  Roll them and wrap them in plastic sheets. Keep them in dark and dry room. You can replace your carpets with cotton rugs or bamboo mats.

Work on the doors and windows of your house. During the rainy season, drops of water seeps. Avoid water seepage by putting rubber lining in doors and windows. The rubber lining will prevent water from entering.

If your drawing room has potted plants, during rainy weather shift them in the open. Plants have tendency to absorb moisture, thus increase the dampness of the place.

A household remedy to keep the cupboards and other storage areas free from insects is putting neem leaves. Place few neem leaves and some cloves in your cupboard during rainy season. This will keep the insects and moth at bay.

Rainy season gives the dry parched land relief. But it also brings many diseases with it. If your property have garden with water holes, do not let water stagnate for too long. Try to recycle the water. Stagnating water becomes the breeding ground for mosquitoes.
