Who doesn’t enjoy the rainy weather by sitting in the
comfort of your balcony? Sipping a hot cup of coffee and enjoying crispy
fritters is the ideal way to spend a rainy day in the comforts of your house. However,
monsoons bring with them a host of problems for your residential property.
Many problems come with the rainy season. Whether you posses
a sprawling villa or a cozy apartment in city, do some necessary checks to
avoid the brunt of this wet and humid weather. If your have not done until now,
do it now as it is never too late.
Wooden furniture in your apartment or villa suffers because
of the high moisture content in the air. Polish them and try not to use water
for cleaning. Use dry cloth for cleaning your wooden furniture. If leather
couch and chairs requires special care.
If your big house has carpeting done, monsoons are time to
keep them folded. Roll them and wrap
them in plastic sheets. Keep them in dark and dry room. You can replace your
carpets with cotton rugs or bamboo mats.
Work on the doors and windows of your house. During the
rainy season, drops of water seeps. Avoid water seepage by putting rubber
lining in doors and windows. The rubber lining will prevent water from
entering.
If your drawing room has potted plants, during rainy weather
shift them in the open. Plants have tendency to absorb moisture, thus increase
the dampness of the place.
A household remedy to keep the cupboards and other storage
areas free from insects is putting neem leaves. Place few neem leaves and some cloves in your cupboard during rainy season.
This will keep the insects and moth at bay.
Rainy
season gives the dry parched land relief. But it also brings many diseases with
it. If your property have garden with water holes, do not let water stagnate
for too long. Try to recycle the water. Stagnating water becomes the breeding
ground for mosquitoes.
